Day 53 – Wangaratta to Canberra

Thursday 24 November 2011

View 2011 South Australia Reunion on greynomadm's travel map.

Hit the road under a clear sky and thankfully no perceivable wind. By the time we reached Holbrook the cloud cover was almost 8/8 and the wind had built up to a significant North Easterly gusting to about 50 kph. In addition to having to travel at one gear lower than normal the rig was often buffeted on the side. Not a pleasant drive and I seriously considered pulling off for the night to let the weather pass over. Unfortunately, there's no guarantee that tomorrow will be any better.

Checked in at EPIC (Exhibition Park In Canberra) for three nights and set up the camp. It is surprisingly busy here with very few vacant sites. Broke out the laptop and sent the obligatory LOCSTAT to the daughters and went off to top up the fuel.

The day continued cold and windy and towards evening a shower or two of rain completed a day I'd rather forget. We'll see what tomorrow brings, can't get much worse.

Stay well and travel safely.

Cheers … Tony
