Day 54 – Canberra

Friday 25 November 2011

View 2011 South Australia Reunion on greynomadm's travel map.

I'm aware that I keep on harping about the weather. I do so because it is so variable and not at all typical of the locations and the time of year. Spring is notoriously variable but this has been ridiculous.

Despite my expectation for better weather (see yesterday's entry) it was not to be, steady rain almost continuously all day. Called on our mate Bert and met the much lauded grand-daughter. When a new-born is described in glowing terms by a doting grand-father I get a bit sceptical and expect a child that looks like most other newborns. In this case I think Bert is justified in crowing about the child. She is quite exquisite and appears to have inherited all the good features of her ancestors.

Also met up with mate Speedie and we 'did lunch' at the local club. In a contest to pay for lunch, I mixed up my credit cards and keyed in the wrong PIN. Greatly embarrassed when Bert pulled out cash and put me out of my misery.

Dropped Bert off at his place and returned to the caravan. The rain continues and we are disinclined to do anything but watch TV and read a book.

Plan to catch up with Nat and the family some time tomorrow and then head off home on Sunday.

Stay well and travel safely.

Cheers … Tony
